When your sweetie is a huge Kansas City Chief’s fan, so you get them tickets as a surprise…. but you get the surprise because instead of them playing the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore… The game tickets are for Kansas City. So, you decide that sounds like a perfect Honeymoon and to get married the day beforehand. So you travel over an hour to the nearest courthouse that can squeeze you in at the last minute. I love my couples, because 1000% is this something that would happen to my ADHD ass, and I was laughing so hard and full of joy to realize I am not the only space cadet in the club.

Susan and Mike’s Allegany County Courthouse Elopement was such a lovely day.
We met at up the C. William Gilchrist Gallery next door that morning so that Susan and the kids could get ready for the day. Then Mike met up with us too. He and Susan had a little first look, and they gave the kids their presents, they grabbed the amazing flowers they have picked up from Wilde Rose in Hagerstown, MD then we headed on over to the courthouse. While we waited I took advantage of the amazing stained glass windows and the stunning floors. Once they were ready we headed outside where this duo tied the knot in the front lawn of the courthouse under the Gargoyles (It is the only Courthouse in the state of Maryland with Gargoyles). Afterwards we wandered a bit more inside the Courthouse and then took to wandering the streets. Susan and Mike had to hit the road to catch their plane, but still wanted photos of Susan’s stunning Bronco. So I wandered them out to Rocky Gap State Park to get them both on their way, but also get photos of the Bronco as well.

Cumberland, MD Wedding | Maryland Wedding Photographer | C. William Gilchrist Gallery

Megan and Jairus knew they wanted to get married, they knew they wanted a downtown vibe, but other than that they were clueless on the details of it all. I recommended utilizing C. William Gilchrist Gallery in Cumberland, Maryland. Which is a lovely Federal Style Mansion on Historic Washington Street in Cumberland, Maryland. I met up with Megan getting ready upstairs and enjoying the amazing library and we wandered around the upstairs as guests filled the downstairs. The ceremony was held at 5pm downstairs in the C. William Gilchrist Gallery, which is a rotating art gallery always full of amazing art. The large windows brought in all the light and the chandeliers glittered as Megan and Jairus’s dream day fully formed. I do not think there was a dry eye in the house after the vows were read. Afterwards we did some group photos, sent everyone on their way to dinner at Rocky Gap Casino & Resort. Meanwhile, Megan, Jairus, and myself wandered the exterior of the gallery which is a gorgeous home from the 1800’s on Washington Street in Cumberland, MD. Which is a street full of gorgeous historic houses nestled in the valley of Mountain Maryland. So we enjoyed the gardens and the beauty of Washington Street. Then we went to the close by Historic Downtown area and continued to run into more of their friends as we made our way through downtown capturing their love. Afterwards, I sent them on their way to feast and we called it a very successful day.

The beauty of getting married is it’s what you desire. For Megan and Jairus, they really desired a full couples session vibe with their wedding. So we made it happen and it all worked out beautifully for them.
